Where Do You Buy?

AmiAmi has been my go-to to buy cases and anime figures. I usually check stock statuses late at night and once in a blue moon, a Weiss Schwarz case becomes available for me to snatch up. Otherwise, I would be looking at different LGSs that selll online.

Pricing

¥111,600 (Booster Case) + ¥7232 (DHL Shipping) = ¥135,390

The total cost in dollars was roughly $850. Typically, you are looking at $950+ if you are buying online from a US retail provider.

JP Spy x Family Case

Most of the time when you buy these cases, sellers ship out just the case box. With AmiAmi, they do a little extra and put your case inside their branded boxes. They have one of the best packaging and shipping for anime figures and for any other products!

What Came in this Case

This set comes with its own special Spy Rares. From what I’ve read from other people’s experiences, they pulled enough for 2 base playsets (4x of C,U,R,RR,CC,CR), 6 SPYR and some combination of 2 SPs or 1 SP w/ SEC.

Unfortunately, I am not the lucky guy that pulled an SEC..

It also comes with a set of the “” or “Attack First, Attack Second” cards.

From my case I pulled 20 SRs, 9 RRRs, 6 SPYRs and 2 SPs.

Organization of Booster Box & Pack

• It is pretty standard like most Weiss series. If the pack comes with a CC and CR, the CR is the 2nd to last of the pack, pushing the rare to be the 3rd last in the pack, rather than being the 2nd to last in most packs
• The big hits are always going to be the 5th card
• Anything that deviates from this organization, would be pretty suspect

Each booster box typically gives you some combination of at least 2 SRs. Sometimes, it can be 1 SR and 1 RRR. With the SPYRs, it should replace one of the SRs or RRRs.

What Stands Out?

UNIQUE ARTWORK! That’s is probably what I value most about card designs. That’s what we have in this set that makes it more uniquely collectible. Sometimes, taking screenshots of the show is kind of bland and feels cheap. That’s a funny thing for me to say because I’m kind of the opposite when it comes to anime figures, since I love figures of my favorite scenes.

Other than that, I love set based rares. The “chibi” drawings of some of the SPYR are hilarious and cute. Fans would definitely love this set, based on the artwork alone.

I am not a player of Weiss, so I’ll leave that up to those that enjoy the game.

Speculative Value

This is what I love most about the worth of these cards. There’s no way to really know how much cards can appreciate. I can always say to just buy to collect and to enjoy the game. However, no one is going to be mad that your cards’ value is increasing. Obviously, the SECs and a couple of the Yor & Anya SPs have the most potential to maintain and increase in value. Looking at the prices right now, it would seem to be that way as the most popular characters and waifus are always near the top. Spy x Family is a very strong IP with an upcoming movie, so I think the sealed cases and singles should at least maintain their retail value—English sealed products and singles, even more so; which has a release date in January of 2024.

Last Thoughts

Overall, I love buying Japanese sealed cases because I can always grab one at the lower end of the market. I’m a “value” guy, so if I can get it on the cheaper side, pulling cards that are valued less doesn’t hurt as much. Of course, if you pull something you wanted to keep anyways, then it doesn’t really matter.

As for my pulls, I pulled the worst SP in terms of value with Sylvia Sherwood, but I pulled the highest valued SPYR and 2nd/3rd highest valued SP. In the end, this is a decent set in terms of overall value.

This is a great set with great artwork and I think collectors & investors will be happy in the long run.
