The search for collecting valuable waifu cards have begun!

Weiss Schwarz Project Sekai Colorful Stage Feat. Hatsune Mike Booster Case
This is the reprint that got released on June 9th, 2023. The original release was on February 11th of 2022.
Background
Selling out pretty quickly on the reprint, I was able to catch one of the last “cases” online from one of my favorite anime figure shops from Osaka, Japan, Hobby-Genki! This is my first journey in the collectible world where I bought something I have no real personal connection in, besides the artwork. I do know of Hatsune Miku; not because of all the VR music, but the incredible amount of anime figures of her! So, this isn’t a venture where even in anime figure land, I buy something I don’t personally have an attachment with. However, I’ve always admired the amount of beautiful artwork that goes into the female marketed products.
The Reality..
To be completely honest, I checked out the prices of some of these waifus in this set and I told myself, “that $1000 card can be me.”
Pricing
¥6195 (Booster Box Price) X 20 (# of booster boxes) + ¥11490 (DHL Shipping) = ¥135,390
I picked up this case w/ 2 additional booster boxes at Hobby-Genki at $967.48. Hobby-Genki is one of my “go-to” websites for anime figures and they do carry some Weiss Schwarz cards from time to time.
Hobby-Genki Sells Cases?!
They do not sell by the case, but if you buy a case worth (18 boxes for this set), you can request them to send you a sealed case instead. Customer service told me they can do this, but there isn’t a guarantee.
What I actually received..
The case I received wasn’t technically sealed, but the way sealed boxes looked, I’m going to assume it’s the actual sealed case and wasn’t tinkered with. The 2 additional booster boxes was bubbled wrapped and inserted into the opened case. (See pictures below)
What Comes in a Booster Box?
From my very young experience in the Weiss game, I’m used to pulling at least 2 SRs or 1 SR with a RRR in a whole booster box. For my first booster opening, I was able to obtain 1 SR, 1 RRR and a set specific VR (Visual Rare) card, which are pretty valuable cards in the set!
No promos or box toppers in the booster boxes..
Project Sekai Case
The carton or case comes with 18 booster boxes with 3 layers of 6 boosters. I bought this case from Hobby-Genki with an additional 2 booster boxes. Typical of their packaging, they maneuvered the original case box to fit in the extra 2 booster boxes with bubble wrap inside. It doesn’t make for the prettiest packaging experience like a Hobbylink Japan or AmiAmi, but it’s still highly effective in protecting the products inside.

What Came in this Case
This is everything that comes in this set. It looks like you get 1 SSP per case and I received 2 VR (Visual Rare) cards that are specific to this case. Of course, the value of the SSP varies wildly depending on what you end up pulling. ($55-1000+)
2 VR pulls seem very low..

Including the additional 2 booster boxes along with the case, I received 22 SRs and 17 RRRs. You would likely need to buy a master case (at least 2 cases worth) to get all the SRs and RRRs.
Not enough for 2x playset..
Somehow, someway, I am missing just 1 short of an RR for a 2x base playset (4x of C,U,CC,CR,R,RR). After sorting through the cards, I could not find it. However, there should be enough since every RR I received amounted to at least 8x of the same card.
Organization of Pack
- It is pretty standard like most Weiss series. If the pack comes with a CC and CR, the CR is the 2nd to last of the pack, pushing the rare to be the 3rd last in the pack, rather than being the 2nd to last in most packs
- The big hits are always going to be the 5th card

What Stands Out?
The simple fact is that when the target market is more geared towards a female audience, the artwork just looks better. I tend to see this general trend in anime figures as well. Whether its the foiling, the choice of colors or even more unique artwork that’s not just simply plastered on the cardboard from a scene—it’s just overall more visually appealing.

Speculative Value
From a financial standpoint of returns from the highest hits, these 3 cards barely make it to $200 in the bare minimum value, but the top end will get you probably to $300+. Being that I am a newer collector/seller, I’m still trying to gauge the interest and demand for older sets. Simple supply and demand would suggest appreciation in these SSPs as they get harder and harder to find.
The Haruka Kiritani, Lots of Blessings SSP is “out of stock” on Yuyu-Tei, but available in “small stock” on TCG Republic for about $266. I have sent that card in to BGS to get graded, so the value of the card could be a lot higher; especially if TCG Republic run out of their stock.
Since this is a harder and more rare base playset to find, I would assume this to be more than a $200 value. No lie, I saw an auction of this playset sell for under $14..
What in the actual ****?!
I’m truly happy for buyer, but sad for the seller.. And future seller. **hint** Me..
Last Thoughts
Overall, this is a pretty fun set to see the artwork from a non-fan perspective. I’ve already sold a few of the SRs from the set literally the night after uploading it to eBay, so there are fans that still really want these cards. If I can’t recoup most of my money on the playset, then this is likely going to be a net loss. I did buy the one missing RR to create my 2nd base playset out of. I am in the position to hold for years, so I always have time on my side. Most people want to make money fast, but these cards are my collectible “investments.”
At some point after at least a year, I would love to revisit how older sets perform, so be on the look out for updates for future blogs! For you Weiss players, let me know how strong this set is!
As always guys have fun, but be responsible folks!
