Miyo has fully awakened her powers and we all know what will happen next..
Video Review
What Stands Out the Most?
After an entire season of buildup, Miyo has finally awakened her full powers. But does she truly become the hero we’ve been waiting for?
Pacing Issues and Convenience..
Episodes 9, 10 and 11 have now provided us with enough evidence that maybe… the pacing near the arc’s end is kind of breezing by things too fast. The first half of the season struck a strong balance between character development and plot intrigue, keeping the mystery engaging. Episode 6 blessed us with the most action packed episode that showed just how mighty of a villain Naoshi is. This episode really lacks the depth that the previous episodes had that gave us time to digest these relationships and truly appreciate them like the Yoshirou Usuba, Tadakiyo Kudou and the Kiyo dynamic with Miyo.
It really did feel like the story had to hit all the critical points without providing the love and care like it does between Miyo and Kiyoka. It makes sense that the two main characters have almost every episode to deal upon a different kind of bond. However, they are separated for a reason! This is the time to show Miyo’s growth, her ability to lead and bond with everyone else.
With Miyo’s fully awakened powers, you would expect to see her abilities showcased in every way possible, right? Right.. Except, it felt more convenient than rewarding. What Miyo is now makes a ton of sense. She is strong, confident and is a leader that needs to be the hero. The thing is.. Miyo just ends up having all the answers and solutions to the episode’s problems. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it lacked any “wow factor”—aside from Miyo effortlessly taking out two cult members.

I’m actually getting ready to spark up a fatty, I mean create a YouTube video about expectations from the source material killing our enjoyment of the anime. In this case, I think it becomes pretty clear when an anime is being hindered by constraints.
Fuyu and Miyo Wholesomeness
Although there were many instances where the episode felt like it glossed over and had some plot convenient moments, it doesn’t take away from some of the most rewarding moments like Miyo and Fuyu’s relationship. From DEMON MOTHER TERESA to a full-blown loving mother, Fuyu now gives Miyo the mother-daughter bond she never had after Sumi died—and that felt AMAZING to witness.

From almost two seasons of Miyo being helpless in most cases and being abused by her own sister and step-mother, to Miyo having a real mother-like figure that she had to prove and earn? There is no better satisfaction than to experience the growth of their interpersonal relationship.
Overall, the episode was everything you could have asked out of a “post-awakening of powers.” The biggest problem the episode faced was that the pacing didn’t allow the rewards to be set up to full satisfaction. Even with the disappointment of many moments feeling glossed over and convenient, there are some pretty amazing highlight moments like the Fuyu and Miyo relationship and finally seeing Miyo display her powers by MIND BEDAZZLING bad guys!
