What Stands Out About This Episode?

Chinatsu is still on the fence about how to handle her feelings for Taiki, while Taiki must make a decision about what to do with both Chinatsu AND Hina. Leave it up to the great Ayame Moriya to force some romance into action.

Stirring the Pot

Ayame Moriya.. She’s the character that the fanbase will have a “love or hate” relationship with. However, there’s no debating that she not only adds something interesting to the romantic plot but also brings value in unexpected ways—like causing a fanbase to suddenly RAGE!

It’s clear that Ayame represents a certain kind of girl that’s okay with being in close proximity with boys and is willing to give guys a chance if they are within the spectrum of her “type.” Being as open as she is with relationships, this episode highlights one of her flaws: it’s the hubris of thinking that you can bring a romance together that doesn’t actually exist. You have friends, right? Why not hook them up with some hot guy with a punchable face?

Sometimes we see a couple of people of the opposite sex that seemingly need a nudge to help get their relationship going. Sometimes… it’s not exactly what you think. And SOMETIMES, love works in ways that aren’t necessarily suitable for everyone. This is Ayame’s arc, where she tries to play matchmaker. In reality, she’s manipulating things to end in disaster. That is what this episode is all about. Since Taiki and Chinatsu are still unsure about themselves and won’t confess their love to each other, it leaves the door open for the Ayames of the world to put a spotlight onto something that is actually a pretty common experience, where someone wants to play Cupid. Sometimes, Cupid does make a right choice, but sometimes.. someone needs to shoot Cupid instead.
