Chinatsu is moving back in with Taiki, but vibes are definitely off ever since rumors started to spread between Taiki and Hina’s relationship.

What Stands Out About This Episode?

Rumor has spread that Taiki and Hina are secretly an item. This starts to agitate Chinatsu, as she starts to mull over how she truly feels about Taiki. All the while, a plot device causer of havoc has entered the story to force the plot’s hands!

Casual Mayhem

One thing about the Blue Box anime that wasn’t as obvious in the manga was how much more the anime was starting to get stale. All the main characters are in the same position they’ve been in since Hina confessed her love for Taiki. There have been many repeat scenarios that pretty much elicit the same reactions from the audience. From Chinatsu one-on-one dates with Taiki to Hina slowly working her magic to convince Taiki to see her romantically. With that slight criticism in mind, it also makes tons of sense for what happens next.

DRUM ROLL PLEASE!

**Enters Ayame Moriya!**

Ayame Moriya brings an entirely different dynamic and I mean that beyond the “overused-ness” of that word. Her casualness and openness bring an entirely different energy that forces Chinatsu to get a better understanding about her own feelings. One of the biggest problems Taiki has with Chinatsu is her inability to convey her feelings. It’s a recurring theme about her character that was once again mentioned in this episode. So now we have this carefree individual that doesn’t flinch at making physical contact with another boy, whereas Chinatsu is the ultra-reserved overthinker.

One of my favorite scenes from Blue Box is Chinatsu and Karen’s ‘girl-talk’ in this episode. I love this scene because it helps define the “why” a character likes what they like, like in Karen’s case with Haryu. Karen and Haryu’s relationship has always represented what Taiki and Chinatsu’s relationship could potentially look like, given their similar values. Although we all may know the “why,” Chinatsu is apparently not fully committed. Ayame brings the perfect contrast in romantic ideology to highlight what Chinatsu may be lacking in herself.
