What Stands Out the Most?
The Payoffs are Paying Off
Like in episode 1 of season 2, episode 2 addresses and progresses everything that the audience wants to see a payoff for. In the hook of the episode, there is already a major dilemma between Fuyu and Miyo, with Fuyu bullying Miyo into just becoming another maid in hopes to break her and return her back to the slums of the “low status” Saimoris. It’s one of those character arcs for Miyo that shows how much more resilient and stronger she is, which in turn highlights her future leadership qualities that will help uphold the Kudo name. There were a ton of feel good moments here that led to Tadakiyo putting his wife in her place, but showed the respect that all the maids & butlers gained from Miyo putting on the maid outfit and actually doing a good job without any complaints.

The Excitement of ‘Mystery’ Continues
There’s nothing like the excitement of a “mystery box” that slowly reveals what’s exactky inside. That is the My Happy Marriage story from Kiyoka going through this creepily tense investigation that led to the most exciting scenes in season 2 thus far, to sharing more about the depths of Miyo’s Dream-Sight ability and how dangerous it is to just use it.
Kiyoka investigating this religious cult by himself in a broken down mansion with basically a “meth lab” inside, brings this entirely different spooky element to My Happy Marriage. Not only did it feel like real danger, it brought forward an action sequence making you wanting more, while continually foreshadowing that Miyo and how it relates to her powers, are going to be in real danger. The feeling of actually “losing something” is critical to that tense exciting feeling, as Kiyoka and Miyo are naturally growing closer episode by episode, due to Miyo trying to solve the family drama with Kiyoka’s mother.

These first two episodes have been squeaky clean good, as there isn’t much, if any to nitpick at the story’s flaws. The pacing, animation and delivery of all the moments from each scene deserves its own praise, as a collection of it all makes for a solid episode.
