What Stands Out?

All About Mystery & SPECULATION!

The ending is just the beginning. While this episode doesn’t have this massive climatic moment, it introduced some of the most intriguing questions to the biggest mysteries of the Oshi no Ko story. Why is Aqua and Ruby’s father just out here YEETING pretty girls? Who in the what’s her face is this creepy little supernatural kid? Will Ruby be able to link up with her brother to find their murderous daddy?!

Not only do we get a lot of more fascinating questions regarding all main plot worthy elements, there are a tons of questions to ponder over each and every important character moving forward. What do we make of this Aqua and Akane relationship? How will Kana be affected within all of her actions moving forward? How will revenge change Ruby’s character moving forward?

As a season finale, while it does give temporary closure for Aqua’s character in regards to his revenge and seemingly choosing Akane over Kana—this episode sparked the beginning of Ruby’s “Dark Arc.” And within that “Dark Arc,” there are significant revelations that makes all the mysteries the highlight of the finale. Whether you prefer season 1’s finale versus season 2’s, either way, they both highlight different elements of what makes Oshi no Ko an incredibly thrilling anime.

Ruby Has ALWAYS Had DARKNESS INSIDE HER

Before Ruby unlocked this “darkness” after meeting the mysterious kid and discovering Gorou’s dead body, there were subtle hints at her darker traits. This was especially clear in season 2, episode 5, during the scene with Minami, Ruby, and Sakuya. The story cleverly uses Anemone’s character to give us insight into Mem-cho, Kana, and Ruby—where they stand as idols, and what their true personalities are like.

The real Ruby, “Sarina,” has a dark and depressing past, yet almost every scene of her has been mostly upbeat as she has always had something positive to hold onto and with the death of her one hopes and dreams of Gorou’s passing, what is she really left with?

YEETING 父!

Anemone points out one of the most important character flaws of Ruby that maybe most viewers missed on: Ruby is a “wannabe idol.” Just like how I always make the joke of Aqua and now Ruby becoming a “murderer-in-the-making,” Ruby is in the process of becoming a legitimate star idol. Anemone is pointing out that Ruby isn’t totally being herself and this sparks the moment where we get to see Ruby actually be herself and that pure self.. is total DARKNESS!

From how the scene compared to Aqua’s start as a revenge plot, we get the same animation here with Ruby’s. This sparks Anemone’s eyes wide reaction to just how DARK it feels from Ruby during her part of the music video shoot, as this may be the purest and rawest form of emotions from the real Ruby.
