The new Dandadan anime is quite frankly.. PEAK?!
Video Review
What Stands Out About This Episode?
The Similarities w/ Another SHONEN!
If there is one anime that Dandadan reminds me of in recent memory, it is Mob Psycho. With the supernatural aspect and ‘trippy’ hallucinogenic art style, Dandadan replaces that humorous and “I would have never thought of that because I’m not insane” kind of creativty, wrapped up in a cohesive narrative with characters that already show some good depth—all within the very first episode. This anime captures the look and supernatural vibes that Mob Psycho left behind. But, on top of that, we get an intriguingly fresh scenario where the “romantic-comedy” element is added.

The Last Few Bastions of CRAZY IDEAS
Anime is one of the last few mediums where creativity knows no boundaries—where that fine line of maniacal ideas makes you question the sanity of the person who wrote it and whether or not we should be worried about them. Dandadan fully embraces this eccentricity with its romantic first encounter, leading the two main characters, Momo Ayase and Ken Takakura, to take a major leap and put themselves in incredible danger. All to prove that Ken’s belief in the occult and Momo’s belief in ghosts are, in fact, reality.

These IDEAS ARE DIABOLICAL!
This is where the diabolical nature of what Dandadan represents is at its peak. The comedic nature of the characters, the uncomfortable scenarios, the creepy designs of the characters are come at you wildly fast.

The main characters are odd and the connection between them seem to be one that shouldn’t manifest any romantic chemistry, but that’s where the narrative pits them into a DARK and DEEP situation to forever ingrain their experiences together. That’s absolutely the most normal part of this entire first episode. But, where it gets uncomfortably hilarious is that MOMO gets into a “300 bottles of lube situation” with some REAL ALIENS that want to “DIDDY HER..” for her uterus?! Because they want to procreate in another way that isn’t just cloning ten thousand alien Diddies?

How many layers of “WHAT THE F**K are there?!” Not only does the anime have insane ideas as that, the Alien Diddies have an equally insane character that wants YOU to TOUCH HER OPPAIS! It’s the ghost of a woman that is well beyond even her twilight years, into the abyss of super-duper post death menopause. However, it gets even worse as she wants regain her horny prime years to curse and to absolutely grasp.. clasp.. clamp.. Ken Takakura’s banana and use it as blackmail for Momo to I guess.. fight her? Because decrepit, old lewd women who refuses to allow even in death, to let rigor mortis set in and take their bodies into the underworld hate younger women?!
That’s a joke guys.. Don’t cancel me!
All in all, I would suggest that you guys go watch my video review of this episode because I’m totally not trying to self-promote. I just want you guys to watch “forced alien entry” and for you guys to watch a poor soul’s wiener be CLAMPED!
Check out my other YouTube anime reviews here!

Well most of your review lies hidden in the YouTube review which is great. Always ready for a Sinh review of bat-s*** crazy stuff. I would add that this does not remind me of Mob Psycho but rather anything by Masaaki Yuasa. In fact during EP1, I thought it WAS his work, but Dandadan is only an imitation of core Yuasa who is the right-wing conservative here. Is Yuasa crazy enuf to even comment on The Dan? Hmmm, good question!
Here is all anyone needs to know. Cute HS girl who is only looking for that right Ken Takakura (高倉 健, Takakura Ken) so she can make like the three-toed Aardvark with him. Nerdy HS guy with just the right name to get extremely lucky-lucky with cute HS girl and who is an isekai’ed reincarnation of Naota Nandaba from FLCL who turns into the ultimate hero who bizstrides time and space, and the universe and everything, and who has a love of Aardvarks.
That’s it! Dandadan is JUST a HS Romance, seen there, done that, been what?, or they could just rename this to “Ghosts VS Aliens saves Planet Earth: A Romance”
Well I certainly will be around for EP 2. If they can hold this thing together to some kind of end, I will be there or at least most of me will be there, I think.
NOTE: How come HS Romance’s in anime are so much alike?

Forgot to mention that Momo Ayase wears the same kind of earrings that Frieren wears. They are magical, they do not attach to the ear

I usually stay away from romance, but if the adventures are crazy, I’ll stick around for some more wacky supernatural shenanigans!
P.S. Get that anime blog going!
