Will Wignall Find His RESOLVE?! Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 10 [Video Review]

Wignall dropped a bombshell to show his true colors and the villains put the main characters in an inescapable bind.

Time and time again, we see our hero, Will Serfort, aka “MC Rizzler Will,” humble his prejudiced and condescending peers. This time, it is the proud elf, Wignall, who gets to see Will literally protect and save him when he couldn’t do it himself. However, there is a significant difference between Wignall and the fire-and-ice combo of Sion and Julius. As revealed at the end of the previous episode, Wignall is essentially another “Elf Will.”

What Stands Out About This Episode?

Wignall Gets His JUST DO!

Wignall might be the first character with more depth behind Sion and Julius’s “jerk rival” archetypes. When I read Wignall’s backstory in the manga, I have always thought it was kind of cheap that Wignall essentially has the same backstory like Will’s. However, the anime did a nice job and building this epic crescendo moment for Wignall to pull his potential out of him.

Since the manga itself is not very far, it’s hard to confirm how much deeper many of these characters get explored, but this episode laid a nice foundation with Will gaining a real friend that isn’t trying to clap his cheeks.. I’m talking about you Rosti!

I have a strong urge to make a post about Julius for manga spoilers.. Let me know if you guys want to see content for Wistoria: Wand and Sword manga!

Villains BEING MESSED UP!

Maybe it’s because of the seasonality of Halloween coming up that helps inject steroids for the villains in this arc. While we know very little about the villains themselves—what stands out the most with Marze and the headless one is the BRUTALITY they bring to the story. Fear, death and tension. Some villains don’t need that much “depth” if they can come into the main plot within the arc and just TERRORIZE the characters.

For a brief moment, we got to see some fan favorites and my personal favorite, “Colette-Will” ship be in major danger, as the headless villain almost YEETED the two other side waifus in the show. I remember when The Eminence in Shadow arcs kept pressing the “repeat” button on kidnapping characters. I mean.. it works. Adverse situations for characters you care about just work and with the villains showing up to terrorize the 6 main characters, we got the first taste of the potential brutality coming up. The anime is surely doing the manga justice right now!
