So what comes inside a Weiss Schwarz Blau case?
My name is Billy, but I go by “Otaku Sinh” or “otakusinh” on various platforms. Like my other anime figure reviews, I thought I’d share my own experience in collecting various anime TCGs as well. I’m still very new to the scene, but there is still some valuable information I can share that’s not all that easily accessible. One of those being “case hit rates” and what are all the other cards that you can potentially get if you bought one of these.
I bought this case off of AmiAmi. It’s one of my favorite places to import anime figures and now these various anime TCGs. It cost me roughly $482. In yen terms, it was ¥59,600 for the case and ¥5,165 for DHL shipping for a grand total of ¥64,765.
Weiss Schwarz Blau Detective Conan (Case Closed)

Each case comes with 20 booster boxes. Each booster box contains 10 booster packs w/ 4 cards each inside of them. Each sealed booster box contains 1 promo card.
Each pack comes with a guaranteed “R.” Each pack may give you an additional “BR” or “RR,” if you don’t pull one of the more rare cards in SSP or SP. I think each pack guarantees that you walk away with a “RR” or “BR.” (I forgot to tally all of this when I opened them, but I recall this to be the case.)
Case Hits

I’ve seen this asked over and over in Reddit and in various communities. So.. What are the hit rates in the case for all the good cards like SPs, SSPs, SEC or any other series specific cards? In this case for Detective Conan, it’s called “DCR.” However, those cards only come in the trial decks. In this case for for the booster boxes, the best cards (of higher $ worth) are still SPs and SSPs. In this case I pulled 2 SPs and 1 SSP.

SSP (スーパースペシャル)
Card code: CNN/01B-022SSP 冷酷非情な男 ジン (Reikoku Hijōna Otoko Gin)

2 SPs (スペシャル)
Card code: CNN/01B-004SP 傍若無人 松田陣平 (Bōjakubujin Matsuda Jinpei)

Card code: CNN/01B-002SP 5人の絆 警察学校同期組(5-Nin no Kizuna Keisatsu Gakkō Dōki-gumi)

Blau Rares
One of the biggest selling points for Weiss Schwarz Blau is their “Blau Rares.” They are stamped with this gold foil around the border, where it would be the back of the card. In the front of the card, would be the original playing side that is the “N” version of the card.

If you are hoping to get all the Blau Rares with one case, then unfortunately that’s not the case (no pun intended). I was able to pull about 65-70% of all the Blau rares, but some I received more than one. As valuable cards, they are not so much—but the artwork and concept is great for collectors.
Playset
It’s pretty difficult for westerners to get into Weiss Schwarz Blau, when the game is only in Japanese. However, if the game ever picks up, playsets are a must. Typically, these consist of 4x the quantity of all the Normal (N), Rares (R) and Double Rares (RR) because that is the max amount of the same card you can use in a 50 card deck. See the rules on their site or the wiki.
In Weiss Schwarz cases, there’s typically enough for a playset. However, in WSB I was short of a couple cards where I was only able to pull 3x of a RR. I bought an additional 8 booster boxes overtime to get the cards I needed. If you are luckier, a lot less additional cards is needed.
Weiss Schwarz Blau is divided up into yellow, green and blue cards as indicated at the top left corner of the card.

Last Thoughts
For a collectible piece of artwork, the artwork is pretty good. I think most Detective Conan fans will enjoy it. I still prefer the nice signed cards that other Weiss Schwarz card series have. Case wise, if you want the 4x playset, you might not get it. For collectors, it’s all about the SPs and SSPs. In this case, I got 2 SPs and 1 SSP, which feels about right.
