What Stands Out About This Episode?

Aira x Okarun
As Kinta Sakata, Rin Sawaki and other newer characters start to introduce themselves into the fold, Aira’s character is going to be one that still shines bright as “Acrobatic Aira” and as someone that has genuinely fallen for Okarun and all of her new friends. Even though I do love to point out the back and forth of the “NTR” every time Momo and Okarun make a large step towards their official confession—this episode is the kind of episode that pays respect to characters that have every right to maintain their keep.
Like in the cursed mansion, Momo & Okarun needed Jiji’s help or else they would have YEETED themselves. In this case for Aira as “Acrobatic Aira,” she pretty much carried the load to give Okarun an opportunity to make mistakes and understand how to get his “rhythm” be in tune with Turbo Babaa’s powers. Not only did she help Okarun and delivered some of the best aura farming scenes, she got the acknowledgment from Okarun himself. It was his true words of gratitude that Aira’s usual bubbly self was left behind because she genuinely felt a more mature love for him that wasn’t just the experimental naughty magazines and videos of her dad’s.

We are really seeing our main cast of four, mature and grow mentally into their best versions. The fact that all four, along with Seiko and Manjiro—everyone is in fact, becoming “part of the family.” The last one left to save… is EVIL EYE!
Okarun Overcomes HIS EMASCULATION!
Okarun has lost his golden balls physically and metaphorically on multiple occasions. The latest hit to a man’s expectation? Being too weak to save Momo.. while she gets choked out, legs up and clothes ripped. It was the epitome of “viscerality.” A deep dig that any shonen or man can understand that will have you seeking answers, even asking an Alien Boxer Kappa Mantis Shrimp for even a sliver of an answer.

Like Okarun said in this episode that he’s already overcome so much, but still feels too weak—he has indeed come a long way since the battle against Acrobatic Silky, where it took Momo scolding him to gain the confidence he needs to save them. Okarun is in the next phase of shonen, where he is absolutely aura farming his way into being the savior and outshining Momo as the deuteragonist. The speech of conviction among the Ayase household, the ordering of Aira to get ready to throw water onto Jiji and turning into Turbo Okarun; these are the peak shonen moments in Dan Da Dan.
Miscellaneous
- This episode covers manga (end of) chapters 57 through 60
- After Aira defeats the conductor, the other musicians fell in the manga, but in the anime they still levitated
- When Aira gets knocked down after telling Okarun to defeat the main musicians, she flashes back to the “NTR” Momo & Evil Eye scene, but the anime kept it more PG friendly with the flashbacks
