One of the biggest moments in Oshi no Ko is about to occur when Aqua reveals to Taiki Himekawa about their true connection!

What Stands Out?
The End Becomes a New Beginning
It’s fair to say that this episode of Oshi no Ko is mixed, but not in the way that it’s bad. I think for most of us experiencing this part of the story for the first time experienced some kind of letdown or anticlimactic end. However, such a significant event isn’t without its flaws from Aqua’s deduction point-of-view. Aqua telling Taiki that they are half-brothers should lead to an even bigger lead for Aqua’s ultimate revenge of “YEETING” his own father. Taiki explaining to Aqua that their father actually double suicide in a romantic end is very tragic and dark, but for our sake of consumption, a big let down.
Even though Taiki tells Aqua that their father is already dead, this creates an arc at any point in the future where—let’s face it, the story can’t just end like that. There is always more context to the story and Aqua will eventually find out that his “murderer in-the-making” dreams will live on.

What is actually the most fascinating about this episode is the emphasis on the twin of the main character, Ruby Hoshino. She’s a character that has taken more of a role in the background, while the viewers are following Aqua’s journey to finding out about his father and the context behind Ai’s death, only to run into what he thinks is a dead end. Throughout season 2, there have been hints all over about this “darker” side to Ruby and I think the foreshadowing into laying the groundwork of this “Dark Ruby Arc,” just happened in this arc. From an important background character to one that will now be front and center as the entire purpose of following Aqua as the main character is gone.
This is what makes Oshi no Ko a special story. The characters have a lot of depth and tons to explore and the way the story weaves itself naturally to make sense is so much more enjoyable than your typical meathead type of anime. While the context behind this “Dark Ruby” will soon be fulfilled, I think manga readers can really appreciate how the anime has been handling this part of the story. That is pretty much the biggest takeaway from this episode from getting a somewhat anticlimactic, yet an ignorance for Aqua that is better off in reality being ignorant about to another in Ruby, starting her own journey for what is to come in Miyazaki, where it all tragically began in episode 1 of the series..
